Maharashtra govt sends notice to Ravindra Gaikwad
A senior govt official told ET that the notice was issued under the state's service rules act which prohibits a govt servant from holding a stake in a pvt co.
“The notice seeks details from Mr Gaikwad if he is a part of the Kochi franchise of the IPL or Rendezvous Sport which leads the consortium that won the bid for this team,” the official said.
Government sources said apart from Shailendra Gaikwad’s direct involvement with the Kochi franchise, what has also alerted the state government is Mr Ravindra Gaikwad’s alleged role in the Rs 100 crore imported bike scam last year.
As assistant RTO at the Andheri office, Mr Gaikwad’s involvement was suspected in the scam which broke out after several imported bikes were found to have evaded vehicle registration tax since their owners, hand in glove with the RTO officials, got them de-assembled into spares.
