'Lion King','Star Wars' come to JioCinema

MUMBAI: Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a long term content deal with Disney India, which will allow JioCinema, Jio’s digital app, to offer the latter’s content on its platform.

Disney’s content includes stories and characters from the brands like Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucas Films.

JioCinema will host a dedicated Disney branded section on the homepage with content spanning across movies, animation, series and shorts.


The deal spans across Disney Classics (‘The Jungle Book’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and more), Pixar animation, movies like ‘Star Wars’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, ‘Thor’ and more.

The app will also allow for character customisation option, where fans can choose from their favourite Disney, Marvel, Pixar or Star Wars character such as Mickey Mouse, Captain America, and browse the entire range of content available on that character.

JioCinema boasts of over 1 lakh hours of content, including movies, TV shows, music videos, clips, trailers and more across Hindi, English, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, and Punjabi.
