JioMusic, Saavn announce 90-days free 'premium' service for Jio users on the new app

Now, Jio users will be able to enjoy free 'premium' music service for 90 days on new JioSaavn app. Eight months after the announcement of acquisition of Saavn by Reliance Industries, Jio and Saavn have unveiled a merged platform JioSaavn service, which according to the company is South Asia's largest streaming, entertainment and artist platform.

The company said the 90-days free -- JioSaavn pro -- complimentary access is a premium service. However, the free version will be available to Jio users even after the end of 90-days complimentary access.

According to the company, the current JioMusic and Saavn users will migrate to the new integrated JioSaavn platform. The service will be offered on a 'freemium' model in India with all users having access to the ad-supported product.


"The new integrated JioSaavn app will be available across all app stores including the Jio app store, on JioPhone, as well as, at www.jio.com/jiosaavn," the company said in a statement.

"As part of this launch, Jio users will also get a 90-day extended free trial of JioSaavn Pro, the streaming service’s
premium product," the statement said.

"With the integrated JioSaavn app, users can expect products and music experiences, including an interactive lyrics feature, localised vernacular display, custom integrations with concerts and live events, as well as exclusive video content to roll out over the next few months," the statement added.

With a catalog of over 45 million songs and original content, the new platform aims to combine the streaming media expertise of Saavn with Jio's digital services ecosystem.

Earlier this year, Reliance Jio and Saavn Media agreed to merge the former’s music subsidiary, Jio Music and latter’s streaming services into one entity that would have a combined value of $1 billion. Reliance Jio invested a total of $124 million in total at the time.
