Jab We Met sees Rs 22 cr from satellite rights
Jab We Met might actually rake more moolah in comparison to the latest blockbuster Om Shanti Om for satellite rights.
In fact, Jab We Met might actually rake more moolah in comparison to the latest blockbuster Om Shanti Om for satellite rights. The distributors expect to rake in about Rs 22 crore as revenues over a period of time.
The distributors have formulated a syndication deal, under which the company will sign a deal with five channels instead of one. Traditionally, distributors sell satellite rights for a period of five years to a particular television channel. The channel in turn syndicates the movie rights to other channels in due course of time.
Explaining its distribution model, Preeti Shahani of The Indian Film Company said: “Most of the times, television channels are not able to recover the entire money. So for Jab We Met, we have already struck an official deal with two of the general entertainment channels and would strike a deal with three others.”
She said that the television channels would pay per screening on the channels and it would be a syndication of film content to five channels.
The distributor company also believes that this will keep the movie’s freshness intact and it will not overexpose the movie. “In addition, we will separately sell the terrestrial rights, video on demand rights for DTH platforms, pay per view rights for international television channels and internet and brodband rights,” said Ms Shahani.
