'Indian Ocean' to perform charity concert in US
Popular fusion rock band "Indian Ocean" will be the main attraction in "Notes of Hope", the annual musical concert of Asha for Education, a voluntary organisation dedicated to raising funds for education of the underprivileged in India.

NEW YORK: Popular fusion rock band "Indian Ocean" will be the main attraction in "Notes of Hope", the annual musical concert of Asha for Education, a voluntary organisation dedicated to raising funds for education of the underprivileged in India.
As with all Asha events, cent per cent net proceeds from the concert, to be held here on August 25, will go towards funding education-related projects in India that Asha supports, the organisers said.
An "East Meets West" style contemporary fusion band from India, Indian Ocean integrates classical music with rock, jazz and indie-folk, producing a unique rhythm.
At this year's Notes of Hope concert, Indian Ocean will be playing never before performed and unreleased tracks as well as songs from the soundtrack of the movie 'Shounya'.
In 2006, Notes of Hope featured Indian classical music legend Pt Shiv kumar Sharma. The event raised over $ 10,000 towards Asha's cause of making education more accessible to the underprivileged children in India.
About 500 people are expected to attend the concert this year.

Asha for Education, a non-profit group that was established in 1991 by a group of students at Berkeley, has blossomed into a worldwide organisation totalling 66 chapters (45 in the US, 14 in India and 7 in Europe, Singapore and Australia).
