Indian Film Festival begins in Israel
Indian Film Festival, which part of celebrations of 60 years of India's Independence and 15 years of Indo-Israel ties, got off to a rousing start with screening of 'Dosar'.
"We haven't yet forgotten 'Mr and Mrs Iyer', screened twice in separate film festivals here, for Konkona's acting talent. Once again she has given a memorable performance. She looks so natural and real," Anat Yagil, an India enthusiast, said after watching the movies last evening.
"She has a natural flair for acting. She was also impressive in Omkara, a commercial venture, which was shown here recently during the Jerusalem Film Festival," said Yigal.
Coming with the reputation of Satyajit Ray's heir apparent, Rituparno Ghosh, present for the inauguration ceremony here, also won several admirers for his treatment of the subject and the screenplay.
"'Arth' dealing with a similar theme had left an indelible mark on the Hindi film audience. This, however, surpasses it in certain ways in the portrayal of human emotions," Sybil and Shayla, other India enthusiasts, said expressing their opinion after the screening.
"The dilemmas and dichotomies have been beautifully portrayed by a master storyteller."
The cinematheque, in Jerusalem, was packed to its capacity while many had to return due to unavailability of tickets.
