Heath Ledger wins posthumous BAFTA acting award

Heath Ledger was awarded with a posthumous British Academy Film Award (BAFTA) for his performance as the Joker in the latest Batman movie, "The Dark Knight".

LONDON: Heath Ledger was awarded with a posthumous British Academy Film Award (BAFTA) on Sunday for his menacing performance as the Joker in the latest Batman movie, "The Dark Knight".

He was named best supporting actor at an award ceremony in London, beating Robert Downey Jr, Brendan Gleeson, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Brad Pitt.

Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment a year ago, aged 28, having accidentally taken a lethal combination of prescription drugs.

His work has already won him an Oscar nomination, and last month earned him a posthumous Golden Globe award.
