Free Range Studios exploring scope for digital marketing in India
The US-based Free Range Studios, the creators of popular viral videos like `the meatrix’ and `the story of stuff’, is exploring the scope for digital marketing in India.
Digital marketing that makes use of online videos and social networking to plug a social message, has immense possibility in India, believes Ms Mcarthur, partner of Free Range Studios. It has tied up with Kochi-based branding agency Organic BPS to realize its objective.
``We have the expertise on digital marketing as we have been in the business for ten years. But to work in India we need a local partner who is conversant with the culture of the country,������ she told ET.
In Kerala where she had been touring, Ms Mcarthur hopes to work out something for tourism department on responsible tourism on sustaining the resources or on homestays. ``Internet can be good medium to communicate to travelers on how to travel in a responsible manner,������ she said.
For several years after its inception ten years ago, Free Range Studios had been working for mainly NGOs. ``In the last few years we have been doing marketing for socially responsible corporates.
We are looking for similar clients in India,������ she said. Much of its popularity can be attributed to online video ``the meatrix���, watched by millions of people,which spoofed the Matrix films complete with stop- motion photography to campaign against factory farming.
Free Range Studios has done dozens of videos since then including the one against gun culture. `` There is a growing trend of corporates adopting socially responsible approach which could make positive impact on the lives of people,������ she said.
