Mumbai: AI-powered content intelligence platform ContentLens has appointed former Tips Music chief executive Hari Nair as a pro bono strategic advisor, as the company looks to expand its presence in the media and entertainment sector amid rising concerns over copyright infringement and deepfakes.

Nair, who most recently served as CEO of Tips Music and previously held senior roles at Sony Music India, PPL India and TikTok, will advise the Bengaluru-based company on go-to-market strategy, investor relations and partnerships across the Indian and global media and entertainment industry, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

The appointment comes at a time when media companies, music labels and artists are increasingly grappling with unauthorised content replication, synthetic media and intellectual property misuse driven by generative artificial intelligence tools. ContentLens focuses on music IP protection, celebrity likeness detection, content provenance and deepfake identification.

The company said Nair’s decision to join in a pro bono capacity reflects his conviction in the platform, having previously used ContentLens as a client. Advisory roles in the sector often include equity or compensation arrangements.

“As someone who has worked with the technology as a client, I know what it can do,” Nair said in the statement, adding that AI-driven content protection would be critical as content is increasingly replicated and monetised without consent.

Founded by Rohan Sahu, ContentLens said it has commercialised its technology with five large customers in the media and entertainment sector and filed patents related to fingerprinting, watermarking and audio-visual content intelligence technologies. The startup is preparing for its next phase of commercial growth, it said.
