First ever IOR-ARC film fest gets underway in capital

The first-ever Film Festival of Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC) countries got underway on Friday.

NEW DELHI: The first-ever Film Festival of Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC) countries got underway on Friday.

Inaugurating the festival, Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said such initiatives offered a platform to understand the cultural perspective of member countries through the medium of cinema.

The festival, jointly organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals and the External Affairs Ministry, will continue till March 1, 2008.

In all ten films will be screened from the member countries Australia, Bangladesh, Iran, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and India.
