Entertainment company PVR eyes 300 screens in 3 years

Entertainment company PVR is looking to double its number of multiplex screens in the next three years as it touches the 150-screen mark.

NEW DELHI: Entertainment company PVR is looking to double its number of multiplex screens in the next three years as it touches the 150-screen mark this week, its chairman and managing director Ajay Bijli said. The company will invest . 100 crore per year and expects to operate 300 screens in the next three years.

“Our core business is exhibition and we have decided to focus on it besides expanding our movie distribution business . We will make movies when we get good opportunities but we are not going to be aggressively looking at our film production business,” he said.

In line with its strategy to slow down its movie production business , PVR bought out JP Morgan Mauritius Holdings and India Advantage Fund from its subsidiary PVR Pictures last month. The company also said that it will merge its production business with itself. The company is betting big on large format multiplexes to offer more choice to its consumers and offer larger seating capacities.
