HYDERABAD: DQ Entertainment, an outsourcing and co-production animation company, has set up its second gaming division with an investment of $4.6 million exclusively for UK-based games publisher and developer Electronic Arts.
This division has been set up to protect the gaming properties that DQE is developing for Electronic Arts. It would provide them with a safe environment and address their IP security concerns. As many as 120 people have been deployed to work on these games at this 220-seater facility while some animation work would also happen in this office.
“We are working on next generation asset creation for console games. These high-end 3D games would be used on consoles like the Xbox and the Playstation. We are currently working on seven games and more are expected to come in and a two-year output deal has already been signed,” says DQ Entertainment MD and CEO Tapaas Chakravarti.
The company expects that business from Electronic Arts to triple. “Top creative heads from different units Electronic Arts would come from time to time to train employees, at this division of DQE. The games being developed here are across the spectrum and include character-based and vehicle-based productions,” said Electronic Arts executive producer and vice president Richard Leinfellner These games are scheduled for release by the last quarter of next year.
DQE is also working on three other games for US-based companies as well as a Marvel property called Fantastic Four. Almost 200 people are working on these games, scheduled for completion by April-May.
