Disney ramping up retail presence

Disney Consumers Products (DCP), a division of the US entertainment heavyweight Walt Disney Company, is ramping up its presence across the country.

MUMBAI: Disney Consumers Products (DCP), a division of the US entertainment heavyweight Walt Disney Company, is ramping up its presence across the country.

The strategy is part of a global move to focus on emerging markets like India, where modern retail is picking up speed.

The iconic brand has launched several products - apparel accessories, cartoon, stationaries , kids section, food, health and beauty.

DCP���s licencees in India include Pantaloons, Big Bazaar, Lifestyle, Westside, Cadburys, Starmark, and other major brands and retailers. The company recently tied up with Popley to launch its high-end disney-styled platinum and diamond jewellery priced above Rs 25,000.

Says DCP India regional director Roshini Bakshi: ���Distribution is a challenge in India. We are playing in kid���s market, which has immense opportunities for growth in India. We don���t fear competitors because we are unique.

Apart from our products, we also have entertainment section, music, movies.��� In the International market, DCP has tied up with Kimberly Clark, GAAP, Hnm, Walmart, etc. Disney is a hit among the young with its shows - High school Musical, Hannah Montana and That���s So Raven.
