Controversies strike Bollywood again with 'Ghajini'
Bollywood has been unable to do away with controversies related to Ghajini.
The Madras High Court yesterday put on hold the release of 'Ghajini' after a copyright violation suit was filed by the producer of the original Tamil version.
The suit was filed by A Chandrasekharan against the producer of the Hindi version, Allu Aravind, director A R Murugadoss and distributor Adlab Films.
In August, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) sought a ban on Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Singh is Kinng' for allegedly ridiculing the Sikh community. The film's promos, showing a Sikh character wearing a turban while sporting a French cut beard, were later withdrawn.
In February, Rajputs in Rajasthan blocked the screening of the big budget Ashutosh Gowarikar-directed 'Jodhaa Akbar', accusing the filmmaker of distorting history.
According to them, Jodhaa was the daughter of Udai Singh of Marwar and was married to Salim, Akbar's son. But the film showed Jodhaa as Akbar's wife as Gowarikar claimed he had the backing of historians and a royal family of Rajasthan to prove it.
