Broadcasters agree to offer channels for Rs 5 under CAS
A majority of broadcasters have informed the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that they have agreed to offer their TV channels at an MRP of Rs 5 under the conditional access system (CAS) regime.
Star India, SET Discovery, ESPN Software, Raj TV Network, B4U Network, Sun TV, Udaya TV, Gemini TV, Ushodaya Enterprises, BBC World and Zee Turner are among the broadcasters and distributers who have informed TRAI that they will offer channels for Rs 5. Star India said:
“The prices are being filed under protest and without prejudice to Star India’s rights and contention raised in petitions filed by Star India and/or any other parties on the issues.” Star India is a distributor of channels like Star Plus, Star Movies, Star One, Star World, Disney Channel, Hungama, Neo Sports and History Channel.
