Bieber overtakes Michael Jackson on US box office

LOS ANGELES: Teen sensation Justin Bieber has overtaken 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson's ' This Is It' to have the most successful concert-themed movie at the US box office.

Bieber earned USD 72.2 million at the domestic box office while Sony's 'This Is It' grossed USD 72.1 million domestically, the Hollywood Reporter said.

The movie 'Justin Bieber', released six weeks ago, was directed by Jon M Chu.

However, 'This Is It' still holds the worldwide record, having grossed USD 189.1 million overseas for a global cume of USD 261.2 million.

Bieber's film has grossed USD 10.8 million at the international box office, which is a lot better than the Jonas Brothers, who grossed only USD 4 million internationally, while Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour earned USD 5 million.
