Bahubali content to be available on PVR's VR Lounges

PVR is working with the team of the blockbuster movie to bring their content to the newly launched virtual reality (VR) lounge in Noida, which is the first of its kind in India.

NEW DELHI: For fans of the upcoming Bahubali sequal, they may well be able to see exclusive action content in virtual reality at their nearest movie hall.

PVR is working with the team of the blockbuster movie to bring their content to the newly launched virtual reality (VR) lounge in Noida, which is the first of its kind in India.

"We're working on bringing exclusive Bahubali content in VR to be launched here," said Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR Cinemas, at the launch of the VR lounge in Mall of India, Noida.

PVR plans to add more than a dozen more locations over the next few months, where all the lounges will be powered by HP's virtual reality enabled notebooks and desktops, while phones will be provided by HTC.

With Bahubali's impending launch, exclusive content will generate all the more keenness from consumers to explore this new technology.

"For the first 15 days we will offer the lounge free of cost, which has four viewing pods, and we will monetise it afterwards," Dutta said.

Consumers buying movie tickets to PVR will be able to access these VR lounges for 15-20 minutes at a fee of Rs 75 to Rs 100, that will feature content varying from gaming, educational to entertainment.

"It's a great feat for us as a technology leader in this space," said Ketan Patel, senior director personal systems at HP India. The company is talking to various other business verticals including healthcare and education sectors, for taking VR forward in India.

HP's Omen range of gaming laptops will be housed in several of the locations where the VR Lounges will be set up.

In the first phase, two cinemas in Delhi, around four in Mumbai, three in Bangalore including Forum, will be fitted up with the VR Lounges.
