Videocon hopeful of starting steel project in Bengal by year-end

Videocon Group Chairman Venugopal Dhoot today said he is hopeful of starting the Rs 15k cr steel-cum-power plant project in WB by year-end.

KOLKATA: Videocon Group Chairman Venugopal Dhoot today said he is hopeful of starting the Rs 15,000 crore steel-cum-power plant project in West Bengal by this year-end.

"We are hopeful of starting work on the steel and power plant project in the state by Diwali," Dhoot told reporters here.

Videocon earlier planned to set up a Rs 15,000-crore steel-cum-power project at Jamuria near Asansol in the state.

Dhoot said he company was in possession of 700 acres. "We need another 300 acres and the state government had told us that they will help in getting the land."

"I will be meeting the chief minister tomorrow", he said. Videocon has also started work on renovating its Salt Lake facility in Kolkata.
