The production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel in January, 2009 increased by 32 per cent, 25 per cent and 35 per cent respectively against the corresponding period last year, a company press release said here today.
While the hot metal production recorded 574,000 tonnes in January 2009 against 435,000 tonnes during the similar period last year, crude steel and saleable steel production also registered 525,000 tonnes and 548,000 tonnes against 419,000 tonnes and 406,000 tonnes last year, the release said adding that sales were also up by 511,000 tonnes last month over 404,000 tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
The steel melting shops recorded their best ever production of crude steel at 5,24,586 tonnes and saleable steel production was highest-ever at 5,47,633 tonnes.
