Tata Steel has potential to double India capacity: Chairman N Chandrasekaran
Tata Steel MD T V Narendran had told PTI earlier the company had secured green clearance to increase production capacity of its Jamshedpur facility to 11 million tonnes.
"I think it's fair enough to say whether organic or inorganic, we have a potential to double our capacity in India," Chandrasekaran said in an interview.
Tata Steel India, he said, is a well-run business and it is slated to perform extremely well as there is a demand as well as a market in the country.
Tata Steel MD T V Narendran had said earlier the company had secured green clearance to increase production capacity of its Jamshedpur facility to 11 million tonnes.
Tata Steel has also planned to enhance the capacity of its Kalinganagar project in Odisha to 8 million tonne per annum, he had said.
Tata Steel Group with an annual crude steel capacity of 27.5 million tonne per annum as on March 31, 2017, has operations in 26 countries.
