Steel ministry to review expansion plans of 15 utilities
Prelude to the newly-constituted inter-ministerial group (IMG) meeting next month, top brass of the steel ministry will meet captains of steel industry on Thursday to review their capacity-expansion plans.
Only those steel producers have been summoned, who have proposed to expand their current production to 3 million tonnes,” a top ministry official said. The meeting to be chaired by steel secretary RS Pandey will also deliberate issues related to problems impeding these expansion plans besides listening to their suggestions on ways to remove the bottlenecks.
The government has constituted the IMG to facilitate the investment proposals in the steel sector including that of Posco and Arcelor Mittal.
