The documents were handed over in pen drives to former Bhushan Steel chairman Brij Bhushan Singal, his son and former managing director Neeraj and daughter-in law Ritu at a special court in New Delhi. Each pen drive contains more than 70,000 pages of documents.
Brij Bhushan Singal and Ritu on Monday filed bail applications seeking protection from arrest by the SFIO and the court issued notices to the agency, asking it to respond to the applications by November 11. Appearing on behalf of the accused, advocate Pramod Kumar Dubey, assisted by Ranjana Roy Gawai, sought bail for them, contending that the allegations levelled against them were “wholly baseless”.
Dubey told the court that on October 10, disposing of an anticipatory bail application moved by Brij Bhushan Singal, the Delhi High Court had directed him to move the lower court, while ordering also his arrest should not be given effect for seven days even in the event of the lower court dismissing his plea.
