PUNE: Zamil Steel, a Saudi Arabia-based manufacturer of pre-engineered buildings (PEBs) has launched its operations in India. The company opened its first manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon near Pune and is currently conducting feasibility studies to open another factory in India.

Zamil Steel is a part of the $1.4-billion Zamil Industrial, whose other businesses include air conditioners, glass products and fibreglass insulations.

The $800-million company has invested $32 million in the 21-acre facility, which has a capacity to manufacture 3000 MT PEBs every month with related components.

The company has completed 32 projects in India in the past six months and has 42 projects in hand. Zamil Steel (India) MD Gandhi Tayoun said. ���India is a booming market and is important for us. We completed our first project in 1994, when no PEB company was present here. Many projects since then were completed, he said.
