SAIL to set up two steel processing units in HP, Rajasthan
SAIL on Wednesday said its Board has accorded in-principle approval for setting up two steel processing units at Nahan, Himachal Pradesh and Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.
The two units would be in addition to nine others being set up by the company in states across India, a company statement said.
Country's largest steel maker SAIL is putting up the units where it does not have manufacturing facility and where steel consumption is low as compared to national average.
The products manufactured from steel processing units would be mainly meant for construction purposes, both industrial and individual, the PSU said.
It added that SAIL's board has also given in-principle approval for setting up an industrial training institute at Samastipur in Bihar.
"The institute will be developed in two phases for which work is likely to start soon," the company said.
In the first phase, construction of classrooms, library and workshops will be taken up for a strength of 120 students with an investment of about Rs 10 crore.
In the second phase, the steel major plans to take up further expansion of the institute to accomodate an additional 160 students of the region.
