SAIL kicks off Rs 100-crore steel processing unit

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has kicked off a Rs 100 crore steel processing unit (SPU) in Pulwama, J&K, in line with its strategy to produce tailor-made steel products and raise per capita steel consumption in rural areas.

KOLKATA: Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has kicked off a Rs 100 crore steel processing unit (SPU) in Pulwama, J&K, in line with its strategy to produce tailor-made steel products and raise per capita steel consumption in rural areas.

It is the sixth such unit being set up by SAIL which is investing over Rs 1,000 crore to set up SPUs across the country. Union minister for chemicals & fertilisers and steel Ram Vilas Paswan on Monday laid the foundation stone of the unit.
