RSP registers record production since inception
Rourkela Steel Plant, a unit of SAIL, continued its growth momentum with an impressive performance during Nov 2010 as well as April-Nov this fiscal.
The plant registered a record production of hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel at 1.54 million tons, 1.43 million ton, 1.32 million tons respectively by utilizing more than 100% capacity and the best for any April to November, 2010 since inception of the steel plant, a RSP spokesman on Thursday told “The ET”.
Last month, the steel plant registered output of 2,00,029 tons of hot metal from its four blast furnaces, 1,89,850 tons of crude steel from its steel melting shops and 1,62,855 tons of saleable steel. The spokesman said production of hot metal and crude steel was best ever for any month of November since inception of the steel plant by surpassing the Annual Performance Plan (APP) targets in several production centers.
Besides, the steel plant’s finishing mills recorded best ever April to November performance in both the production and sale of hot rolled coils, hot rolled plates as well as Cold Rolled Non Oriented [CRNO] steel. RSP meets the demands of the electrical industry, by producing CRNO fully processed steel used in the manufacture of magnetic cores and components.
Other finished products like electric resistance weld (ERW) pipes, spiral weld (SW) pipes, cold rolled sheets/ coils and galvanized sheets also registered impressive performance during April to November, the spokesperson added.
