RSP beats production record for May
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved a record production of 1,87,035 tonnes of hot metal and 1,75,997 tonnes of crude steel, besides despatching a huge 1,69,650 tonnes of saleable steel in May.

ROURKELA (ORISSA): Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved a record production of 1,87,035 tonnes of hot metal and 1,75,997 tonnes of crude steel, besides despatching a huge 1,69,650 tonnes of saleable steel in May.
The growth, as compared to the year-ago period, was 53 per cent in hot metal, 52.6 per cent in crude steel, 64.8 per cent in saleable steel and 52.4 per cent in despatches of saleable steel, official sources said.
The figures were the highest for RSP for the month of May since its inception, official sources said on Saturday.
Saleable steel production during May 2006 was also the highest ever achieved in the month of May since inception of the domestic steel major.
All major departments like Sinter Plant, Blast Furnaces, Ore Bedding and Blending Plant, steel melting shops-one and two, hot strip mill and plate mill operated at more than 100 per cent of rated capacity during the month contributing to the outstanding performance of the steel plant, sources said.

With the blast furnace performing at more than 100 per cent of rated capacity, RSP is now capable of reaching and even surpassing the dream figure of two million tonnes of hot steel production during this fiscal, the sources said. Start a SIP with as low as ₹500 with ET Money App!
