Rourkela Steel Plant registers best Sept performance
The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) made an outstanding performance in September in all production departments registering the best first-half production since inception in the period April to September 2007.

ROURKELA: The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) made an outstanding performance in September in all production departments registering the best first-half production since inception in the period April to September 2007.
According to the production record, hot metal output was 1,84,546 tonne, total crude steel production 1,75,091 tonne and total saleable steel production 1,67,795 tonne, RSP sources said here today.
The production figures also represented capacity utilisation of 112, 3 per cent, 212, 1 per cent and 122 per cent respectively.
Similarly, the best-ever September was achieved in the production of total hot rolled coils at 1,32,983 tonne, hot rolled coils for sale at 60,519 tonne, plate from mill at 41,311 tonne and hot rolled plates at 26,363 tonne, the sources said.
The steel plant dispatched 1.77,211 tonne of steel, which besides being the best for any month of September, was higher by more than six per cent compared to September 2006.
Combined with its performance during September, RSP achieved all time best production levels for the April- September period in major areas like hot metal -- 1,06 million tonne, crude steel 0,98 million tonne, total saleable steel 0,98 million tonne as well as dispatch of steel 0.95 million tonne.
All time best April-September performance was also achieved in finished products like plates from plate mill -- 2,32,851 tonne, hot rolled coils for sale 3,58,387 tonne, hot rolled plates 1,56,445 tonne and crno steel 39,078 tonne the sources said.

Combined with its performance during September, RSP achieved all time best production levels for the April- September period in major areas like hot metal -- 1,06 million tonne, crude steel 0,98 million tonne, total saleable steel 0,98 million tonne as well as dispatch of steel 0.95 million tonne.
