Orissa Govt to expedite land for POSCO project
Orissa Government is keen on expediting land for the POSCO project. It has directed various departments in the state to work in tandem.
"We are trying to deal with the subject in a humane and rational way to benefit the people of the area", Patnaik told reporters here after presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the project. Further, discussing issues related to several other departments, he added, "It is the biggest FDI to come to India and we reviewed its progress in general". Senior officials, top police officers and others attended the review meeting.
The Chief Minister told the officials at the meeting that "since the number of displaced families is small, we should go out of our way to ensure that the process is smooth". He asked them to put in place a proper communication strategy to inform the people about the advantages of the project. It was also decided that the people would be accorded priority in various government schemes under the employment mission. The affected people who were not covered under the state's resettlement and rehabilitation policy would be given priority for engagement in construction works.
