New Barrel Reclaimer inaugurated in Durgapur Steel Plant

A new Barrel Reclaimer was inaugurated at the Raw Materials Handling Plant in Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) recently during a visit to the plant by C S Verma chairman.

KOLKATA: A new Barrel Reclaimer was inaugurated at the Raw Materials Handling Plant in Durgapur Steel Plant ( DSP) recently during a visit to the plant by C S Verma chairman, Steel Authority of India Limited ( SAIL).

Mr Verma , who visited DSP and the Alloy Steels Plant (ASP) on last Saturday, also inaugurated a new ladle furnace No. 2 at ASP.

The new Barrel Reclaimer installed at a cost of Rs 16.43 crore will ensure 100% supply of quality blend mix to the sinter plant for increasing hot metal production.

The equipment was supplied by Elecon Engineering, has a high degree of automation and is expected to substantially improve system reliability for supply of quality blend mix throughout the year.

The ladle furnace No. 2, installed at a cost of Rs 38.43 crore at ASP will help in enhancing the capacity for production of concast stainless steel slabs.

It will also improve techno-economic parameters by longer sequence castings through continuous casting route at Alloy Steels Plant.
