LONDON: Mittal Steel is in advanced and constructive talks with the board of Arcelor that could lead to an agreed offer between the two European steelmakers, a Mittal spokesman told media on Friday.

"We can confirm that Mittal is in advanced and constructive discussions with Arcelor which may or may not lead to a recommended transaction," the spokesman said.
