Mahalaxmi Group to commission its second rolling mill at Howrah

Mahalaxmi Group, manufacturers of TMT bars and stainless steel products, is set to commission its second rolling mill at Howrah, next month.

KOLKATA: Mahalaxmi Group, manufacturers of TMT bars and stainless steel products, is set to commission its second rolling mill at Howrah, next month. Gopal Agarwal, managing director, Mahalaxmi TMT said in Kolkata that the new rolling mill will manufacture one lakh tonne of TMT bars annually, adding that the company’s turnover is expected to touch the Rs 1000-crore mark this year.

Earlier, this month, Mahalaxmi group completed its backward integration project by installing a sponge and billet mill near Kolkata making it one of the largest integrated manufacturers of TMT bars in the eastern region. Mahalaxmi TMT Bars available in grades of Fe-415, and Fe-500 find use in a wide range of application in high rise buildings, bridges, flyovers, dams, thermal and hydel power plants, industrial structures and other sophisticated concrete structures.

Mahalaxmi is also on the verge of completion of its new Rs 30 crore structural mill. At Asansol. The turnover for first year is expected to be Rs 200 crore. To control its cost of production, the company has acquired a captive coal mine by buying out mining rights of a large mine in Meghalaya.
