JSW Steel's April output grows 2% to 10.11 LT

The steelmaker, with 145 LT installed capacity, had produced 9.90 LT crude steel in the same month last year.

NEW DELHI: JSW Steel today reported a 2 per cent growth in crude steel production for April at 10.11 lakh tonnes (LT).

The steelmaker, with 145 LT installed capacity, had produced 9.90 LT crude steel in the same month last year, it said in a statement.

Production of long steel used mainly in the construction sector, however, registered a decline of 19 per cent at 1.33 LT in April, from 1.64 LT a year ago.

Output of flat steel, which is used in the automotive and consumer goods segments, fell 1 per cent during the month to 7.65 LT against 7.76 LT a year earlier.

JSW Steel is one of the largest producers and exporters of coated flat products in the country with presence in over
100 countries spanning five continents.

The shares were trading at Rs 902.40, down 1.97 from the previous close, at 1403 hours on BSE.
