JSW Steel reports 13% drop in crude steel production in August 2019

The lower production reported by JSW Steel is part of a larger slowdown in the steel sector which us facing low demand and pressure kn prices. A part of the problem can also be attributed to seasonal factors as the monsoon period steel is usually associated with lean demand when construction activity is low.
This year a significant slowdown in auto sales has impacted large steel players and thus demand for flat products has been affected.
JSW Steel, which is one of the country’s largest steel producers with 18 million tonne per annum capacity also reported a 13% drop in flat rolled products production to 8.51 lt in August 2019 against an output of 9.81 lt in August 2018. At the same time, long products saw a 5% decline in production to 2.91 lt in August 2019 compared to 3.05 lt in August 2018.In July 2019 the company had posted a flat products output if 9.08 lt diwn 8% compared to July 2018.
