Fulfilling rail requirements of Indian Railways is SAIL's top priority: Anil Chaudhary
Besides rails, the plant also specialises in other products such as wire rods, merchant products, heavy structurals, including channels and beams.
Chaudhary who assumed charge of SAIL on September 22, said strengthening preventive maintenance processes and stabilising operations through logistics, while maintaining a relentless focus on customers, would also top the company’s priorities going forward. This was part of a communication exercise initiated by the new chairman during his visit to SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant on Saturday.
During his Chaudhary said that fulfilling the rail requirements of Indian Railways is “our highest priority.” He urged the Bhilai collective to achieve rail production of 12 lakh tonne this year. "We have to meet the current market competition and get business advantage. There is a need to achieve profitability by minimizing the cost of production per tonne of production, for which special emphasis has to be given on production from modernized units," he added.
While emphasizing on increasing the production from SAIL’s new facilities such as Steel Melting Shop-3 and Bloom Caster-3, Chaudhary said: "Currently, the steel industry is going through a better phase, and this is the time to take maximum advantage of this opportunity.” He further said: “Our internal capacity should be such that the turmoils of the market cannot distract us.”
