The government has begun discussions on widening the PLI for speciality steel, they said.
"Some companies want value-added products that are not covered under current PLI to be covered under PLI 1.1," one of the persons said.
The ministry had called a meeting with the industry on Tuesday for their inputs. It was attended by representatives of companies including L&T Special Steels and Heavy Forging, Jindal Steel, and Mukand Sumi Special Steel, sources said. Companies are now likely to make a detailed submission by Friday, suggesting product details that should be included in the scheme, a government official told ET.
