Fire at Bhilai Steel Plant’s Tar Distillation Unit

In a statement issued SAIL said fire tenders were immediately rushed to the site and the fire has been controlled.

A fire broke out at Steel Authority of India's (SAIL)Bhilai Steel Plant at 8:30 am on Friday morning. The fire was reported at the Tar Distillation Unit in the plant's Coke Ovens and Coal Chemicals (CO&CC) Department. In a statement issued SAIL said fire tenders were immediately rushed to the site and the fire has been controlled.

"There has been no loss of life or any injury to any of the persons working in or around the site," the state iwned steel major said. The reason for the fire is being probed into, the statement added.

There has not been any disruption in the plant’s normal operation.
