Essar's flat steel production up 58 per cent in Q2 FY17

KOLKATA: Essar Steel India saw a 65% jump in total production in second quarter ended September 30, 2016 to 1.34 million tonne, compared to 0.81 million tonne in the corresponding period last year. It also recorded a 58% quarter-on-quarter growth in production of flat steel to 1.34 million tonne in the quarter under review this year (July-September, 2016) compared to 0.85 million tonne in the same period last year.

Pellet production grew by 89% to 2.43 million tonne compared to 1.28 million tonne in the same quarter last year. At 81 KT, the Essar Steel’s production of Pre Painted Galvanised Iron was up 98% over 41 KT produced in the corresponding period last year.

Essar Steel India has an annual production capacity of 10 million tonnes, which is supported by a 20 million tonne pellet-making capacity.


Its facilities comprise iron ore beneficiation, pellet making, iron making, steel making, and downstream facilities, including a cold rolling mill, a galvanising and pre-coated Facility, a steel-processing Facility, an extra-wide plate mill and three pipe mills with coating facilities.
