Durgapur Steel Plant reports 4% rise in hot metal poduction in April 2013
Durgapur Steel Plant, a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited has reported a 4% growth in hot metal production in April 2013.
DSP thus managed to produce over and above its its targets during the month. In fact, the production of crude steel, saleable steel, continuous casting and sinter in April, 2013 was the all-time best April month performance since inception of the plant. The production of special and value-added steel was 77% of total saleable steel production during the month and it was in tandem with maximising the revenue.
The plant's production through energy efficient continuous casting route met 100% of its target with a growth of 2% over CPLY and the production of sinter and section mill also exceeded the targets with a growth of 9% and an impressive 40% respectively over CPLY. As such the production of finished steel comprising structural products (angles, channels and joists), earthquake resistant TMT bars, skelp and wheels & axles recorded a substantial growth of 35% during the month over CPLY.
"With the all-time best production performance in the previous financial year 2012-13, a new trend has been set in DSP. The production as per targets as well as more than 100% of targets in major areas during April, 2013 is in sync with our strategy to sustain the improvements in the plant", said Mr P K Singh, CEO, DSP.
