Durgapur Steel Plant hosts 45th Steel Making Operating Committe Meet

KOLKATA: Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) is hosting the 45th Steel Making Operating Committee ( SMOC) meeting between February 6-7, 2013. The Steel Making Operating Committee is a forum that fosters exchange of knowledge and experience about various aspects of steelmaking between experts from different steel plants in the country. The forum also provides a platform to suggest measures to improve operational effectiveness in steel making.

Around 50 delegates from various steel plants across the country are participating in the two-day meet. Incidentally, several steel plants, which include all the units of SAIL, Tata Steel, JSW, JSPL, Bhusan Steel are taking part in the meeting.

The focus areas of this year's meeting are control of carry-over slag and its impact on steel quality and importance of caster machine maintenance on productivity and quality.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr P K Singh, CEO, DSP said: "The intricate and complex process of steel making is greatly benefited by the knowledge sharing and recommendations by the steel experts from various steel plants in the country. We are happy to host the 45th SMOC meeting". end
