Aos Villares planning to produce mill rolls in India

Brazilian steel producer Aos Villares is studying plans to expand production of its mill rolls in other countries, including India.

NEW DELHI: Brazilian steel producer Aos Villares is studying plans to expand production of its mill rolls in other countries, including India where it wants to set a plant with the production capacity of 10,000-20,000 tonnes per year.

"Brazilian steel producer Aos Villares is studying plans to expand its production of mill rolls in other countries, principally China and India. In India, the company wants to construct a plant with the capacity to produce 10,000-20,000 tonnes per year of rolls," Steel Business Briefing (SBB) reports quoting company President Joaquim Salazar.

The company wanted to raise its global market share from 5 per cent now to 10 per cent in the first stage, and 20 per cent in the second stage.

"The company took the first step in this process a month ago when it inaugurated an office in India, where the market prospects for rolls are considered excellent because there is only one local producer," SBB quoted Salazar as saying.

In China, where the market potential is around 4,00,000 tonnes per year, Aos Villares is considering forming a partnership with a local company with a view to constructing a plant to produce at least 40,000 tonnes per year of rolls for the Chinese market, SBB added.
