Anand Engineering to set up steel plant in Nagpur
Anand Engineering Products Pvt Ltd, a power plant equipment manufacturer, plans to set up a steel fabrication unit.
"The company is investing Rs 100 crore to create steel fabrication facility, combined with heavy machining capability. The requisite civil works would begin by April-May this year," K Premanathan, managing director of the company said here.
The unit would cater to the fabrication and engineering needs of the energy sector and the total installed capacity would be 50,000 tonnes per annum, Premanathan said.
He said the company has invested more than Rs 60 crore in the last three years towards modernisation and enhancing installed capacity of the four facilities at Thuvakadi near here. Production from the four units was expected to touch 33,000 tonnes this year, up from 23,000 tonnes in 2004-05.
Premanathan said the company has registered huge growth in construction of windmill towers. From just 20 in 2000-01, it had touched 400 in 2005-06. This year, the company has already supplied 320 windmill towers.
The company, he said, would soon embark on large-scale exports. Enquiries have been received from General Electric and other US companies for supply of windmill towers.
Future plans include diversifying and creating capacity for construction equipment manufacturing, along with component tool wind turbines, he added.
