Allotment of 104 acres land to Mafco Steel cancelled

CHHINDWARA (MP): Chhindwara district collector Pawan Sharma has cancelled the allotment of 104 acres of land under Sumer Kuyee tehsil of the Junnardeo development block to Mafco Steel Private Limited of New Delhi.

The land which belonged to 37 adivasis, had been given to the company under an order by SDM, A R Dhok. However, the order was cancelled last evening by Sharma.

The land had been allotted on August 16 last year at a mere sum of Rs 20,000 per acre.

Youth Congress leader Sayeed Zafar said that he and his party had been demanding cancellation of the allotment of the land for a long time since it was totally wrong.

Sayeed said that a six-hour dharna was staged yesterday to protest against the land allotment which appeared to have been made in violation of rules.

He said that the order cancelling the allotment came after the dharna came to an end.
