A tremor that shook the web world too

KOLKAT: The Arcelor homepage underwent a sudden change around 2300 hours IST. All through Sunday evening while the Arcelor board deliberated for nine long hours, the company’s web page constantly showed the Severstal name along with its own rapidly moving towards each other and fusing on a one-inch strip on the top of the page.

This was followed by a trigger that announced something to the effect that this was the world’s largest steel company.

Minutes after the board meeting ended, the strip on the top became static. Below the name Arcelor, it now read: Leading Operator in All its Key Markets. Severstal vanished from the scene.

Two decks below, on a patch that read “Arcelor Web TV”, came the words in red: “The Arcelor website dedicated to the ArcelorMittal Offer”. No gaps between Arcelor and Mittal.

Obviously, they were still working on the homepage, for the Web TV lead did not open a second page as it normally does. The change, however, was interesting. Mittal Steel also changed its web homepage.
