One person dies in RIL refinery fire

One person has died in the fire that devastated a unit at Reliance Industries' refinery in Jamnagar.

JAMNAGAR: One person has died in the fire that devastated a unit at Reliance Industries' refinery here.
A contract worker died in the fire, while a company employee was seriously injured, an RIL spokesperson said.
The company employee sustained 60 per cent burn injuries and has been shifted to Mumbai for treatment.
A major fire on Wednesday had destroyed one of the oil processing facilities at the refinery. The unit will be shut for 10 days for repairs, but overall throughput is not likely to be affected.
Although the company maintained that there would be no production loss, the government has asked Indian Oil Corp to tie-up import of about 1,00,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to meet any shortfall arising from the fire at a secondary processing unit (VGO Hydrotreater-II).
