No problem with govt over Haldia Petro: Purnendu Chatterjee

This was the first time since September 4, 2004 that Chatterjee has alled on the chief minister to discuss the issue of Indian Oil Corporation's entry into HPL was discussed.

KOLKATA: One of the principal promoters of Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL), Purnendu Chatterjee, on Wednesday said he had no problem with the other promoter, the West Bengal government, despite being entangled in a legal battle over control of the company for long.

"We have no problem with the state government," he told reporters after an hour-long meeting with Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee here at the Secretariat.

Chatterjee said that he had come to the Secretariat to convey his greetings to chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

This was the first time since September 4, 2004 that Chatterjee has alled on the chief minister to discuss the issue of Indian Oil Corporation's entry into HPL was discussed.

"I have also apprised the chief minister that another TCG group firm TCG Life Sciences would be hitting the capital market with an IPO," he said.

The legal battle between the two promoters started since the time Indian Oil Corporation was alloted shares by the West Bengal government against the wishes of The Chatterjee Group.

The issue is now pending before the Supreme Court.
