KOLKATA: Following a change of guard at Haldia Petrochemicals Limited ( HPL), the company has filed its annual audit reports to the Comptroller and Auditor General ( CAG) after a gap of seven years.

In the absence of audit reports submitted by the company, the CAG report, tabled in the state assembly today, took into account the 2003-04 report while evaluating the performance of PSUs.

"Few months ago they (HPL) submitted the reports to us for seven years together after which we did the supplementary audit," Accountant General Mousumi Ray Bhattacharyya told reporters here.

HPL, the beleaguered petrochemical company, is a joint venture between the West Bengal government and The Chatterjee Group, but the two promoters have been fighting a legal battle over shareholding.

After Tarun Das stepped down from the post, State Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee took over as the Chairman of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd in March.

Later on in June, former transport secretary Sumantra Chowdhury was appointed the new Managing Director by replacing Partha S Bhattacharyya.
