Haldia Petro net almost doubles in 2006-07

Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) today reported a 95 per cent surge in net profit to Rs 584 crore during 2006-07 from Rs 300 crore in the previous year.

KOLKATA: Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) today reported a 95 per cent surge in net profit to Rs 584 crore during 2006-07 from Rs 300 crore in the previous year.

Total income of the company grew 21 per cent at Rs 8,376 crore in 2006-07 as against Rs 6,928 crore in 2005-06, a company release said.

Operating profit increased 25 per cent to Rs 1421 crore as compared to Rs 1138 crore in the previous year.

Haldia Petrochemicals Managing Director Swapan Bhowmik said the company intended to expand market share, increase production capacity and enhance competitiveness in future.

HPL is a joint venture project with Government of West Bengal, The Chatterjee Group, Tatas and Indian Oil Corporation as major stakeholders.
