New Delhi: The Centre on Tuesday extended the full customs duty exemption on imports of select petrochemical products till July 15, allowing manufacturers to continue sourcing critical input materials at lower costs as supply chains are recovering from disruptions triggered by the West Asia conflict.

The decision is expected to provide relief to a wide range of sectors such as plastics, packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and auto components by keeping input costs in check and ensuring uninterrupted availability of raw materials. The government said the measure will continue to support domestic manufacturing while ensuring adequate availability of critical petrochemicals in the domestic market as the global supply situation gradually normalises.
