Tiny, Small industries form rubber park

Members of the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association have pooled their resources and formed a 'Rubber Park'.

MADURAI: Members of the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association have pooled their resources and formed a 'Rubber Park'.

The Rubber Park(Madurai) Ltd would have common facilities, including a Processing Centre, Testing-cum-Research and Development Wing and would also promote the products under common brand name.

"A common raw material bank", which would help save upto 10 per cent of the cost of the rubber products, also has been launched, said R Rajasudhakaran, Managing Director of the Bank. It would be fully operational in an year.

The company has targetted a turnover of Rs.25 crore for 2008-09 from the bank. Around 100 small and medium enterprises would function here.

District Collector S S Jawahar who inaugurated the facility said that under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission, Rs 700 crore would be spent on improving the amenities and infrastructure of the city. The Madurai airport would have international standard facilities at a cost of Rs 600 crore.
